It’s time for a little learning.

“Schoolhouse Rock Live! Jr.” opens tonight at Aloha Theatre. Based on the Emmy Award-winning 1970s cartoon that taught history, grammar, math, science and politics through clever, tuneful songs, this junior production includes students ranging in age from 8 to 18 from 15 area schools.

Theater patrons will enjoy numbers like “Unpack Your Adjectives,” “Conjunction Junction” and “Do the Circulations,” all the while learning a new take on adjectives, the magical qualities of certain numbers, the Preamble to the Constitution and more.

Playing the role of Tom, the novice teacher, is sophomore Zachary Kaneshiro. Joining him in this ensemble cast are Tia Amafala; Nicole Aragon; Heather Bartlett; Maddy Bram; Kiana Ching; Samara Clark; Emily Dungate; Simon Ellis; Veronika Freire; Alicia Hicks; Ariana Kaneshiro; James Kelsey; Taylor Kinsey; Maya Krauss; Zea Levine; Miles Lugo; Kyndra Nakamoto; Melina Ramirez; Sarah Rouse; Jamie Saito; Keawe Strance; Justyn Toyama; Sidney Kobayashi; Madison Vetter; Nanea Wall; and Kaela Yamane.

Hualalai Academy instructor Sue Boyum directs the production, with assistance from Robin O’Hara. Ariana Bassett is technical director, Karen Barry is the producer and David A. Payne is the choreographer.

The show runs tonight through June 24 with shows starting at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday matinees.

Tickets are $20 for regular adult admission, $17 for senior citizens and $5 for students. They are available by calling 322-9924 or from the website, alohatheatre.com. The box office opens for ticket sales one hour before performances.
